Ecotime's geyser
Greywater heat recovery system
What is the Geyser heat recovery system?
Product under
development
Ecotime’s Geyser system features a greywater heat recovery device that means you can recover heat from the shower before it goes down the drain. This innovative technology offers you cost savings that apply directly to your energy bill’s bottom line – and all without having to compromise your everyday consumption habits.
The system takes advantage of a simple principle: it preheats the water before it enters the water heater, thanks to the heat recovery from the shower’s drainwater runoff. This not only results in less energy to heat the water but also avoids thermal shocks inside your water heater, thus extending its life.
With the savings you make on your daily energy consumption (as well as extending the lifespan of your water heater) you’ll be profitably ahead with this unique Geyser system sooner than you think.
Ecotime’s Geyser drain water heat recovery system is a practical and effective solution to reduce your environmental footprint and to help you win the fight against climate change disfunction.
How does Geyser work?
This waste water heat recovery system recovers heat from the shower drainwater to preheat clean water before this fresh water enters the water heater.
1. Hot water is used in large quantities for showering. The lukewarm greywater goes from the shower drain straight into the system.
2. The clean cold water passes through the Geyser system at the same time, without coming into contact with the greywater.
3. Pre-heated water goes back into the water heater while greywater empties directly into the sewer system.
This principle allows you to optimize the use of hot water and improve the energy efficiency of your home, without having any impact on your regular consumption habits. The Ecotime Geyser system is unique in the field because of its easy installation: it integrates directly at the outlet of the drain of the shower thanks to its compact design. This avoids the need for extra space or installation requirements.
Once installation is completed, our system operates passively – for our clients this means no maintenance whatsoever is required.
Without fuss or fanfare this simple but powerful device is ideal for those who want to simultaneously reduce both their energy bill and their ecological footprint!

Focusing on peak consumption periods
In areas north of the US-Canada border, electricity consumption peaks represent crucial periods when energy demand reaches its peak. These peaks usually occur during the winter months, when temperatures drop and residents need to heat their homes. But there are also daily peaks in water and energy consumption, between 6 and 9 am in the morning and between 4 and 8 pm in the evening, when we’re at home and use our heating, water heaters and household appliances most. During periods of intense cold and in regions where electric heating is widely used, there is a significantly increased demand for electrical power.
Peak consumption often poses challenges for the electricity grid, as it requires maximum power generation to meet demand. Power plants play a crucial role supplying power to Canada residents, but even with this abundant resource, peak periods can still put a strain on grid capacity.
To address these challenges, energy suppliers are implementing various strategies. This includes power demand management, where consumers are encouraged to reduce their consumption during peak periods through incentive programs. In addition, investments are being made in energy storage technologies and smart grids to optimize the use of available resources.
Peak power consumption periods highlight the importance of energy planning and continuous innovation to ensure the reliability and sustainability of the electricity grid, while meeting the growing needs of our northern communities.
